The good: Some of the tracks have impact, but in some twisted ironic fashion, my main enjoyment is that this EP is hilarious. Honestly some of the most ridiculous ideas in the entire industry. "Bounce That" will never not be a meme track, and to end on a frickin orchestral track like "Sunset Sonata" is the funniest thing I've ever heard. Even the cover art is goofy.
The bad: The mixing is... not that good. Riot Ten's mixdowns are mediocre at best and overly muddy at worst, really bringing down the quality of the tracks and killing a lot of the power the tracks punch. The vocal features aren't that great either, often melodramatic rap that sounds like it's trying too hard, and even the sampling does absolutely nothing to help this EP's case. "Feral" is a messy project that tries to do very little and fails at even that.
Name | Comments | Superlative |
---|---|---|
Bounce That | This is the stupidest Monstercat song I've ever heard, ridiculous lyrics and bassline — kind of funny, but no | |
All Black | Bland rap, INFEKT brings some impact to the drops but they're still pretty forgettable | Heavy |
Bad Attitude | Muddy drops that sound like sonic diarrhea, though I do get some enjoyment from the stuttery melody | Standout |
Tear It Down | I like the vocal here a lot more and the drops are much better, even if the ideas are pretty repetitive | Standout |
Feral | Bizarre sampling throughout the song alongside very muddy production and mixing on the drops | Heavy |
Elbows To The Dome | Obnoxiously aggressive shouty vocal — I mean he's just shouting, not even rapping — and the mixdown is godawful | Intense |
Sunset Sonata | Such a random switchup, but alright, let's end with a cinematic orchestral outro, of all things | Switchup |
