Marcix's debut EP is batshit crazy. Completely, utterly, absolutely, batshit crazy. That might even be an understatement.

The good: "Digital Reassurance" is a crunchy hybrid between riddim and complextro/electro house, a concept that's been tried many times before, but not in this way. Because Marcix has no intentions to just stop there; no, he's got bigger ambitions. What makes the "Digital Reassurance" EP such a brilliant breakout project is the stylistic choice to mash as much unfathomably deranged production as possible into what is actually quite a short average track length. Every tune on this project is a frenzied pandemonium of dense basswork and frantic high-ends, held together by evershifting leads and the strange addition of almost funky instrumentation, cementing "Digital Reassurance" as a fantastically chaotic project.

The bad: The high-end-heavy mixing is harsh, though, perhaps a bit too harsh. It's another stylistic choice, presumably, but it is a little over the top in places — even with the flow and energy as compensation. I know it's intentional, but it does hurt my ears sometimes.

Hyperactive [Intense] | (72/100)

Punchy riddim tune with a nice lead and some nice basswork — ironically, not as 'hyperactive' as the rest of the EP

Digital Reassurance [Fun] | (80/100)

Vocal chops, sampling and basswork that are a ton of fun, with the sampling being my highlight

Midnight Jvstice [Switchup] | (69/100)

w/ Eccentric

Nice sound design with a weird nu-disco-esque twinge, but fails to fully hold my attention

Articulate [Standout] | (90/100)

Absolutely insane track with a ton of different drops, intense builds and production, and a wild third drop

Gump Town [Intense] | (75/100)

Stupid riddim track with a lot of impact and sampling flair, combined with clean flows

Loopfinder [Standout] | (84/100)

Short and sweet finale, with an electro house twinge to it and some very fun sound design and leads
