The good: G Jones and Eprom smugly shake their hands over the second installment of the "Acid Disk" series, once again bringing us the most acidic experimental sonic compositions that bass music has to offer. This time, they've put a cleaner sheen on it, with a little more precision and polish and even a couple of nice atmospheric tracks.
The bad: Where the first "Acid Disk" trumps over this is in actual experimentalism. Whilst its production was a little rougher around the edges, the ideas on it seemed to gel with me a little more than "Acid Disk 2", both as independent tracks and as a holistic album. The first EP just felt more experimental.
Name | Comments | Superlative |
---|---|---|
On My Mind | Slightly unsettling cowbell lead, sample is great and the flow is a little weird but I dig this | Standout |
A2C2I2D | Bizarre, house-y lead that just generally rolls around over some stabby, glitchy, equally bizarre sound design | Intense |
Facebang (Acid Mix) | Love this shifting dynamic lead and the crunchy breakbeats to follow, final section is really weird but still | Standout |
On The Platform | Quality atmosphere building, still maintains the acidic lead elements but G Jones puts it into a clean, thoughtful immersive cut | Atmospheric |
Flex Acid | The sound design on this is absolutely insane even though it has absolutely no cohesive quality to it | Switchup |
Final Lap | Another nice atmosphere, a little more melodic this time, still maintaining some level of acid but a nice finisher | Melodic |
